5 Tipps auf Ihrem Weg in Richtung Klimaneutralität
Climate neutrality – i.e. zero-emission business operations – is a complex issue. Surely you are already on a good way and differ pleasantly from the expensive PR activities of large corporations, which proudly announce that they are already CO2-neutral on the road, because they compensate, and they reveal this only in the fine print, and of course only Scope 1+2, because Scope 3 means additional effort.
Compensation is not bad per se, but compensating (3) comes after avoiding (1) and after reducing (2). Compensation leaves everything as it is, touches neither technologies nor processes, and increases costs. Avoidance and reduction reduce costs by sustainably lowering consumption and therefore have a positive impact on profitability.
With our 5 tips, you will start or increase the momentum per climate protection and energy efficiency and you will receive a guideline that we can gladly expand together into an energy efficiency roadmap:
- begin
Surely you have already implemented various measures. Where do you stand, what is the current status? We do not need to look into the past here, according to which criteria you have selected the previous measures and to what extent you have implemented them. More relevant is a complete inventory, such as through our potential analysis.
We look at up to 18 categories – and their interactions. Not all categories have the same impact for every industry and every company size. We draw on a wealth of experience spanning several hundred man-years as well as efficient tools developed in-house. Be sure to consider measures in context – we do: building charging infrastructure to promote electromobility makes sense if load management and energy purchasing/generation are considered at the same time! - Destination
What is the goal of all the measures: do you want to reduce your costs, meet the requirements of legislators and/or major customers, or even become a climate-neutral company?
Here, too, there is an enhancement: take your suppliers, customers and employees with you on the journey, consider the complete value chain!
What time frame do you set and can you provide the time and financial resources?
What is your drive? - Analysis and evaluation
Start with a complete inventory.
We recommend 2 levels:
Stage 1: The result of our potential analysis is directly available online; its evaluation, the energy forecast, already defines the fields of action and estimates their potential. Stage 2: As part of a document and site analysis, we evaluate all potentials and prepare plans, processes and offers. All results flow into our energy appraisal, which presents and prioritizes all relevant potentials in terms of relevant KPIs such as payback period, return on investment and opportunity costs, thus providing the basis for an implementation plan.
Ultimately, you define the sequence, and also which measures do not come into play because the ROI is too high. - Awarding and financing
The complexity in the area of sustainability/energy efficiency is not only due to the fact that there are potentially many measures to be taken, but also because there are many players in the market.
How can their quality and suitability be assessed?
Which order makes sense? How can investments and measures be financed?
Are there funding opportunities?
We consider all measures in context. Based on the data from the potential analysis, all platform partners sit down together and develop a concept with the goal of achieving the maximum benefit for the client. This differentiates us significantly from corporations with a focus on energy efficiency, as our partners can act more quickly as SMEs and form working groups at short notice to develop solutions across multiple categories and/or countries.
Of course, we take into account subsidy programs and can pre-finance all measures via leasing or contracting. We are also happy to operate the implemented measures such as LED or CHP or PVA. - Success control and PR
Energy efficiency measures are characterized by the fact that the effect can be calculated in advance and measured after implementation!
A success control is therefore part of each individual measure: does the CHP unit reach the planned number of operating hours and does it generate the expected amount of heat? Or does it mainly stand out because it hardly causes any maintenance costs because it does not run?
Is there any measurement technology at all to perform a performance review? With us in any case!
But we experience again and again installations that do not achieve their goals because only a qualitative control takes place: CHP is installed – instead of looking at the business impact.
Last but not least: If you have sustainably reduced your CO2 emissions, talk about it! Use our certificates to document your progress. Inform all suppliers, customers and employees – take them on the journey with you. We are happy to support you in this.
Agenda 03.08.21 10:00 Uhr:
1. relevant categories
2. potential analysis for a first analysis of the potentials
3. energy forecast for the evaluation of the potentials
4. energy appraisal to prioritize the implementation of the potentials.

Sustainability and energy efficiency are complex issues. If you want to do it right and sustainably, it is best to look for a partner who knows all aspects from experience and also takes all interactions into account. Beyond these categories, we also offer expertise in energy law, energy taxes and compliance topics (energy audits, ISO 50001, ISO 14001, EMAS, carbon footprint).
If you want to do it right, don’t settle for an energy audit or an energy management system but let’s talk about an environmental management system or a carbon footprint (Scope 1-3)!
